KARACHI: A vessel named P Aliki carrying 73,000 metric tons of crude oil is scheduled to arrive at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on Thursday, according to the port’s shipping intelligence report.
The shipment, managed by Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, is among the largest single-commodity crude deliveries expected at the port this week, highlighting continued import flows to meet domestic energy demand.
Meanwhile, KPT recorded a total cargo throughput of 198,852 metric tons over the past 24 hours on June 10, with imports accounting for 142,884 metric tons and exports at 55,968 metric tons.
Liquid cargo led imports at 38,300 metric tons, while containerized cargo dominated overall activity with 101,992 metric tons combined. On the export side, clinkers topped the list at 36,024 metric tons, followed by 18,365 metric tons of containerized shipments.
Port operations remained active with eight vessels berthed during the period, including container ships such as OOCL Nagoya, HMM Lime, Al Seef, Lepton, and Al Udeid, along with tankers MT Shalamar and DM Jade. Eight vessels also departed during the same period, including APL Southampton, X-Press Phoenix, and MT Lahore.
Looking ahead, KPT is preparing for increased traffic, with 11 vessels expected to arrive in the next 24 hours. Of these, nine will carry containers and two will bring chemical cargo totaling 10,200 metric tons.
In addition, rice export activity is expected to pick up, with vessels Puma 7 and NDL Ten scheduled to load a combined 7,000 metric tons on June 12.
