ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Humaira Zia Mufti, Additional Secretary (AS-I) at the Ministry of Industries and Production, as Ex-Officio Director and Chairperson of Pakistan Engineering Company Limited (PECO) with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced by PECO in a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.
According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Industries and Production, the Secretary of the ministry has nominated Humaira Zia Mufti to represent the Government of Pakistan on the PECO Board as its Ex-Officio Director and Chairperson.
The notification stated that the appointment takes effect immediately.
Pakistan Engineering Company Limited is a publicly listed enterprise engaged primarily in the manufacturing and sale of engineering products.
The company was established in 1950 as Batala Engineering Company (BECO) and was renamed Pakistan Engineering Company (PECO) in 1972 after being taken over by the government under the nationalisation policy.
PECO’s manufacturing operations, originally based in Badami Bagh, Lahore, were shifted to the Kot Lakhpat Industrial Estate in 2002, while several unprofitable business segments were closed as part of the company’s restructuring efforts.
