*Sindh Govt to Launch EV Taxi in September, 1000 E-Buses and 50 Double-Decker Buses for Karachi: Sharjeel Memon*

The Sindh government has announced major expansions in public transport, including the launch of an EV taxi service in September, induction of 50 new double-decker buses in Karachi in October, and the phased addition of *1,000 electric buses* from the end of this year.
These decisions were taken during an important meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit *Sharjeel Inam Memon*. The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, CEO Trans Karachi Zubair Channa, Project Director Yellow Line Kamal Dayo, and other concerned officials. A detailed briefing was also presented on various ongoing projects.
Speaking at the meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Sindh government’s EV taxi service will be launched in September. He added that 50 new double-decker buses will arrive in Karachi in October, providing citizens with modern, comfortable, and high-quality travel facilities.
The minister further stated that another 1,000 electric buses will be inducted into the public transport system in phases. He also announced that new People’s Bus Service routes from *Larkana to Qambar* and *Qambar to Shahdadkot* will be launched soon.
To improve traffic flow, the meeting decided to open a section of the mixed traffic lane on *Karachi University Road* for public use in September.
Sharjeel Inam Memon directed that all depots of the *Red Line BRT* project be completed within the stipulated timeline, and that the new People’s Bus Service routes in upper Sindh be made operational at the earliest.
Reiterating the commitment, the minister said the Sindh government will continue to take vigorous steps to provide modern, safe, eco-friendly and reliable public transport facilities to the citizens.
