Islamabad, August 15, 2025 Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Owais Ahmed Khan Laghari, has directed all electricity distribution companies to immediately finalize agreements and establish direct contact with the administrations of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and industrial estates for single-point electricity supply and billing, as per NEPRA’s instructions.
The Power Division, after cabinet approval, submitted a request to NEPRA on February 25 for providing electricity to these zones at a single point. Following consultations, NEPRA on August 11 instructed final agreements to be made through negotiations with the zone administrations.
Sardar Owais Laghari stated this step will promote industrial and commercial activities, bring transparency in electricity supply and billing, and help eliminate unnecessary interference and corruption by distribution companies.
