LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has reported damages worth Rs237.38 million to its infrastructure following recent heavy rains and floods. According to Lesco CEO Muhammad Ramzan Butt, restoration work has been accelerated to repair and replace the affected equipment.
The Kasur circle emerged as the worst hit, suffering losses of Rs197.43m, followed by Okara with Rs24.96m and the central circle with Rs6.35m. Sheikhupura sustained Rs5.7m losses, while Nankana circle faced Rs1.9m damages. The damage included dozens of transformers, thousands of conductors, transmission lines, insulators, poles, and meters across affected regions.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) Board of Directors on Thursday approved an investment of Rs18 billion in development projects. These include Rs8bn for Quaid-i-Azam Business Park, Rs4.5bn for Multan Industrial Estate Phase-II, Rs2.2bn for Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate, Rs1.2bn for Bahawalpur Industrial Estate, Rs1bn each for Vehari Industrial Estate and drainage systems, along with new facilities at Sundar Industrial Estate.
PIEDMC Chairman Javed Iqbal said the initiatives would boost ease of doing business and strengthen industrial growth in Punjab. The meeting was attended by senior officials from Industries, Finance, PBIT, TEVTA and other departments.
