Leading wave energy innovator CorPower Ocean has strengthened its commitment to the advancement of ocean energy by stepping up as a Lead Partner of Ocean Energy Europe (OEE). CEO Patrik Möller, who serves as an elected co-president of OEE, will continue to represent the company on the organization’s Board of Directors.
CorPower Ocean is currently developing three major wave energy projects: VianaWave, a 10MW wave farm in Northern Portugal awarded €40 million from the EU Innovation Fund; SAOIRSE, a 5MW project in collaboration with ESB; and a 5MW array at EMEC’s Billia Croo site in Orkney. Over the past year, the company has secured €36 million in private Series B investment and up to €17.5 million from the European Innovation Council to advance its technology to commercial readiness.
With more than €115 million raised from public and private investors, CorPower Ocean has demonstrated four generations of its breakthrough technology — effectively addressing two critical barriers to wave energy commercialization: storm survivability and efficient power generation under normal sea conditions.
Rémi Gruet, CEO of Ocean Energy Europe, praised the company’s leadership:
“CorPower continues to set the pace in the wave sector. With several projects and significant funding secured, their ongoing partnership strengthens our collective effort to make commercial ocean energy a reality.”
Patrik Möller added:
“We are proud to deepen our collaboration with OEE at this pivotal moment. As we enter a decisive decade for ocean energy, unified action across industry and policy will be key to making wave power a reliable, competitive, and scalable contributor to Europe’s clean energy future.”
CorPower Ocean joins eight other OEE Lead Partners, including EDF, HydroQuest, Proteus Marine Renewables, Orbital Marine Power, Spiralis Energy, Région Normandie, Wave Energy Scotland, and SKF.
