KARACHI (Nov 5): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday said Pakistan needs to redefine its development direction toward innovation-driven, inclusive, and sustainable growth, as the country stands at a crucial turning point in its economic and governance journey.

Speaking at “The Future Summit 2025 – Course Correction: Redefining the Direction,” organised by the Nutshell Group and the National Bank of Pakistan, the chief minister said the theme of the summit was timely, as nations worldwide were reassessing their growth models, governance priorities, and social compacts.

“Pakistan, too, stands at an inflexion point. To move forward, we must redefine our direction – towards innovation-driven, inclusive, and sustainable growth,” he said, addressing an audience of dignitaries, thought leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.

Murad Ali Shah highlighted that Sindh was already leading transformation through modernisation of its industrial and logistics base, development of IT parks and technology zones, and investments in energy transition, urban renewal, and human capital.

“Our government has introduced reforms that simplify business processes, strengthen public-private partnerships, and ensure that infrastructure development aligns with sustainability and equity,” he noted.

Citing key provincial initiatives, Murad Shah said programs such as Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees, Karachi Safe City, Shanta-e-Bhutto, and green energy projects reflected the government’s pragmatic, forward-looking, and people-centred approach.

The chief minister stressed that the most vital infrastructure was the human mind, developed through education, digital literacy, and skills enhancement. “That is why Sindh is aligning with initiatives like the ADB International Education and Skills Forum to prepare our youth for the economies of the future,” he added.

Murad Ali Shah praised platforms such as The Future Summit for connecting policy, capital, and creativity, saying that collaboration between the public and private sectors was key to innovation and national progress. “The National Bank of Pakistan’s support, combined with the Nutshell Group’s convening power, creates exactly the ecosystem we need,” he said.

Reaffirming his government’s four core commitments, the CM said Sindh would deepen partnerships with investors, start-ups, and development institutions; enhance agility by digitising processes and reducing red tape; promote inclusivity by ensuring the participation of women, youth, and marginalised groups; and ensure accountability by measuring impact, reporting progress, and aligning with global governance standards.

“The province of Sindh will remain open to new ideas, new technologies, and new partnerships – because we understand that the future belongs to those who adapt fastest,” he said.

Concluding his address, the chief minister urged participants to move beyond discussion and commit to collective action. “Let Sindh be the launchpad of a new narrative for Pakistan – one of innovation, integrity, and inclusion,” he said, congratulating the organisers for creating a platform that inspires action and optimism.
