ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Wednesday reaffirmed the enduring strength of the Pakistan–China partnership and reviewed new avenues for collaboration in the energy and mineral sectors during a meeting in Islamabad.
The talks focused on economic cooperation, mutual support, and a shared vision for regional stability and prosperity. Minister Malik formally invited China to participate in the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum (PMIF) 2026, noting that mining remains a priority area for Pakistan and offers significant potential for expanded bilateral engagement.
Ambassador Jiang welcomed the invitation and assured China’s participation. “We will encourage the heads of our relevant institutions to join the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum,” he said, emphasizing mining as a key cooperation area. He also highlighted the robust presence of Chinese firms in Pakistan’s petroleum and mineral sectors, including MCC and CNOC, which are actively involved in major ventures such as the Saindak and Siah Dik mining projects.
Minister Malik expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support during Pakistan’s challenging economic period and reiterated Islamabad’s principled backing of China’s sovereignty and regional stability. Ambassador Jiang praised Pakistan’s reform agenda, calling it a positive step toward sustainable development.
Both sides concluded the meeting with a renewed commitment to enhance investment, strengthen economic ties, and convert their all-weather strategic partnership into greater cooperation—particularly in the promising energy and mineral sectors.
