ISLAMABAD: Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for his maiden state visit, undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The President was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
As President Zhaparov stepped off his special aircraft, he was greeted with bouquets presented by children dressed in traditional attire, while a gun salute marked his arrival. Young children waving the flags of both nations lined the route, highlighting the warmth of the occasion. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Presidential Body Guard presented a static salute.
The Kyrgyz leader is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior ministers, top officials, and business leaders. During the two-day visit, he will hold a one-on-one meeting followed by delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, meet President Zardari, and address the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum.
Both sides are set to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, defence, education, people-to-people exchanges and regional connectivity. The visit marks the first by a Kyrgyz president to Pakistan since January 2005.
