PM Orders Guaranteed Winter Gas Supply Hours for Households

Shehbaz-Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted gas supply for households from 5am to 10pm throughout the winter season. The directive was announced in the National Assembly, where lawmakers voiced concerns over persistent gas shortages disrupting daily routines.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik confirmed that the prime minister has instructed gas companies to prioritise domestic consumers and maintain a stable supply window. He noted that gas load shedding has already reduced significantly compared to last year, and efforts are underway to further streamline distribution nationwide.

The minister added that the government is closely monitoring regions experiencing low gas pressure, particularly during peak cooking and heating hours. Citizens have been urged to report any disruptions, with assurances of swift action to restore supply.

Malik revealed that authorities received 80,000–90,000 complaints in November, mostly related to OGRA issues, and that 70–80% were resolved within 36 hours, demonstrating improved responsiveness across gas utilities.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring smooth and reliable gas availability during the winter months, stressing that uninterrupted household supply remains a central priority of the national energy management strategy.

Officials believe that the guaranteed supply window will ease household stress, support cooking and heating needs, and reduce the unpredictability that families have faced in previous winters.
