Islamabad: Sky47 Limited, a majority-owned subsidiary of Mari Energies Limited, has formally entered Pakistan’s high-tech sector with the launch of its first cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure platform near Islamabad.
The development was disclosed by Mari Energies Limited (MARI) in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday. According to the notice, Sky47, through its wholly owned subsidiary Mari Technologies Limited, has established the facility at the Silicon Valley of Capital Smart City, marking a significant milestone in the group’s diversification into digital and advanced technologies.
The company said the platform is designed to provide secure, scalable and sovereign digital infrastructure, enabling enterprises, government institutions and innovators to run mission-critical workloads within Pakistan. The facility is intended to meet global standards of performance, reliability and regulatory compliance, while ensuring data sovereignty.
Mari Energies had announced last year its plans to expand beyond oil and gas into technology-driven ventures, including data centre development. As part of this strategy, a 5MW data centre in Islamabad is under construction and scheduled for completion in 2026, while work on a similar facility in Karachi is already under way.
The launch comes amid a broader push to strengthen Pakistan’s digital ecosystem. In September last year, Telenor Pakistan, in partnership with Data Vault Pakistan, introduced the country’s first AI-ready sovereign cloud, offering GPU-accelerated computing and locally hosted AI infrastructure.
Pakistan’s digital transformation efforts have been supported by policy initiatives, including the Digital Pakistan Policy launched in 2018 and the recently approved National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025, which aims to foster an AI-driven economy, align the country with global technological trends, and create new employment opportunities.
