Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with China, as both sides pledged to expand trade and investment collaboration.
The reaffirmation came during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House between the premier and Jiang Zaidong. According to an official statement, the prime minister congratulated Chinese leadership on the successful conclusion of the “Two Sessions” and conveyed gratitude to Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, and Wang Yi for their warm Pakistan Day greetings.
The premier appreciated China’s unwavering economic support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to advance CPEC 2.0, with a particular focus on agriculture, industrial cooperation, and priority infrastructure development.
Ambassador Jiang lauded Pakistan’s economic resilience and reform efforts, assuring continued Chinese support, especially in trade and investment sectors.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over ongoing bilateral exchanges and looked forward to high-level engagements to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Discussing the regional situation, the prime minister underscored Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting de-escalation and regional stability, while reaffirming close coordination on issues of mutual interest under the enduring Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
