ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is looking to deepen cooperation with China in the clean energy sector, particularly under the Green Belt and Road Initiative, as part of efforts to accelerate its transition toward sustainable development, according to Minister of State for Climate Change Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Kharal.
In an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), the minister said Pakistan views alignment with the Green Belt and Road Initiative as a pathway not only for development but also for achieving “high-quality and much-needed progress” in the country’s energy and environmental sectors.
She highlighted Pakistan’s significant potential for collaboration with China in renewable energy areas, including solar power, wind energy and electric vehicles, noting that China’s global leadership in clean technologies could play a key role in supporting Pakistan’s green transition.
Dr Kharal emphasized that expanding clean energy partnerships would help Pakistan address rising energy demand, reduce reliance on fossil fuels and strengthen climate resilience amid increasing environmental challenges.
She added that enhanced bilateral cooperation in green technologies could also support sustainable economic growth, improve energy security and create new investment opportunities in Pakistan’s emerging renewable energy market.
