OGDCL Commences Gas Production from Sahito-1 Discovery in Sindh

KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced that its Sahito-1 gas discovery in the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand), located within the Khewari Exploration License in Sindh, has successfully been brought into production.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the well is currently producing around 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, with output expected to be gradually increased following planned expansion of surface facilities.

To enable early monetisation of the discovery, OGDCL has laid a 6-inch, 5-kilometre flowline connecting Sahito-1 to the Suleman Gathering Facility. From there, the gas is being processed at the Sinjhoro Plant before being injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) transmission network.

The company said the well is located in District Khairpur and is operated by OGDCL, which holds a 75% working interest in the Khewari Exploration License, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holds the remaining 25%.

OGDCL stated that the commencement of production from Sahito-1 reflects its continued efforts to efficiently develop and monetise indigenous hydrocarbon resources, strengthening domestic energy supply.

As Pakistan’s largest exploration and production company, OGDCL is engaged in a wide range of upstream operations, including exploration, drilling services, production, reservoir management and engineering support across the country.
