# Affordable Energy Crucial for Pakistan’s Export Growth: LCCI
**LAHORE:** Affordable, reliable and predictable energy is essential for strengthening Pakistan’s industrial competitiveness and boosting exports, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President **Faheemur Rehman Saigol** said on Wednesday.
Welcoming the **Cabinet Committee on Energy’s approval of the National Integrated Energy Plan 2027–2060**, Saigol described the move as an important step towards developing a more efficient, affordable, reliable and sustainable energy system.
“Pakistan needs an energy policy that ensures reliability, affordability and predictability. Industry cannot compete internationally when energy costs remain high or supplies are uncertain,” he said.
Saigol said bringing the power, petroleum, gas and other energy sectors under a **unified long-term planning framework** could help overcome fragmentation, strengthen coordination between federal and provincial institutions and prevent unnecessary duplication of infrastructure and investment.
However, he stressed that the effectiveness of the plan would ultimately depend on its **proper implementation** and its ability to deliver tangible benefits to businesses and consumers.
The LCCI president also called for greater utilisation of **indigenous energy resources, renewable energy and emerging technologies such as energy storage**. He said these measures could reduce Pakistan’s dependence on costly imported energy, ease pressure on foreign exchange reserves and strengthen the country’s overall energy security.
Saigol further urged the government to ensure **meaningful consultation with the business community** while developing the detailed plan, particularly by engaging chambers of commerce, industrial associations and major energy-intensive sectors.
He said a coordinated and business-oriented energy strategy would be critical to reducing production costs, improving industrial efficiency and enabling Pakistani businesses to compete more effectively in international markets.
