ISLAMABAD: Formal negotiations between the government and a visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff mission are set to begin today (Monday) for the fourth review of Pakistan’s $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the third review of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). Petrol price rises by Rs2.02, diesel falls by Rs3.59 per litre

The government on Friday increased the price of petrol by Rs2.02 and slashed the rate of high-speed diesel by Rs3.59 per litre. Following the revision, petrol will now cost Rs391.30, while high-speed diesel (HSD) will be sold at Rs408.53 per litre. According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the revised fuel prices will be applicable till September 28. Pakistan September inflation seen easing but energy pressures persist

Pakistan’s consumer price inflation is expected to ease to around 10% in September from 11.15% a month earlier, brokerage houses said, but rising fuel and electricity costs are expected to keep price pressures elevated and complicate the central bank’s policy outlook.
