The company aims to sell between 300 and 400 Zhongtong buses annually, offering two models measuring 10 metres and 12.5 metres. The larger 12.5-metre model is expected to be priced at approximately Rs44 million, making it around Rs4 million to Rs5 million cheaper than comparable Yutong buses.
The proposed pricing is expected to provide transport operators with an additional option in Pakistan’s premium intercity bus segment.
The project follows Ghandhara Industries’ partnership with China’s Zhongtong Bus & Holding Co. Ltd., signed in November 2025, to introduce the Chinese manufacturer’s luxury buses in Pakistan and gradually establish local assembly operations.
Under the initial phase, the company planned to import fully built buses before transitioning towards local assembly through a dedicated production line at its manufacturing facility in Karachi’s SITE industrial area.
The proposed investment marks another step in Ghandhara Industries’ commercial vehicle expansion strategy, while local assembly is expected to support domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on fully imported buses.
