ISLAMABAD: China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd (CSAIL) has expressed appreciation to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) for its support in resolving the long-pending issue concerning reimbursement of the feasibility study cost of the 135MW Taunsa Hydropower Project in Punjab.
According to a testimonial issued on behalf of CSAIL, SIFC played a key role in facilitating the resolution of the matter through proactive engagement and effective coordination among relevant federal and provincial stakeholders.
Liu Yonggang, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd, said the issue had remained pending for a considerable period before SIFC’s intervention helped bring it to a successful conclusion.
He appreciated SIFC’s efforts in paving the way for implementation of the relevant decisions of the Government of Punjab regarding reimbursement of the feasibility study cost.
Liu Yonggang said the development also highlighted SIFC’s role as a high-level facilitation platform for international investors. He noted that the council’s institutional coordination and responsiveness could contribute to strengthening investor confidence and resolving legitimate, long-standing contractual matters through coordinated engagement.
According to the testimonial, the successful resolution also reinforces the broader economic and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, particularly in the energy and hydropower sector.
The 135MW Taunsa Hydropower Project is part of Pakistan’s efforts to expand indigenous and renewable power generation while attracting Chinese investment into the country’s energy infrastructure.
