KARACHI, August 27, 2026: Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has highlighted Sindh’s growing contribution to Pakistan’s energy security, stating that 3,240 MW of electricity generated through Thar Coal projects is being supplied across the country through the national grid.
In a statement, Sharjeel Memon said Sindh was utilising its natural resources to support national development, with Thar Coal playing an important role in meeting the country’s electricity requirements. He added that several wind and solar power projects in the province had also been integrated into the national grid.
The minister said the Sindh government was pursuing development across multiple sectors, with the province’s Annual Development Programme for FY2025-26 set at Rs1.018 trillion, comprising 3,642 development schemes.
He said the province had constructed 5,636 kilometres of roads and completed 1,460 development schemes over the past five years, while major initiatives were also underway in housing, irrigation and other infrastructure sectors.
Highlighting progress in water management, Sharjeel Memon said 3,675 miles of canal lining projects had been completed, resulting in water savings of 5,880 cusecs.
He further said Sindh’s public-private partnership portfolio had expanded from around Rs5 billion in 2010 to more than Rs700 billion in 2024, with projects worth Rs142 billion currently under implementation.
Sharjeel Memon maintained that Sindh’s development was contributing to the wider national economy and benefiting people across Pakistan through the province’s energy resources, infrastructure and public services.
