SNGPL’s anti-gas theft drive: 361 illegal connections disconnected, 168 suspected meters replaced

The task force of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) Peshawar has disconnected 361 illegal connections and replaced 168 suspected domestic/commercial meters, while 126 legal domestic consumers caught in pilferage during ongoing anti-gas theft campaign in the province.

Spokesman of SNGPL, Peshawar said that Task Force Peshawar region during its continued operations against sui gas theft in Peshawar city and it’s suburbs, suburbs of Bannu and Landi Jalandar has disconnected 361 illegal connections, 168 suspected domestic/ commercial meters have been replaced and 126 legal domestic consumers have been caught in pilferage of Gas through direct use/meter tampering. As a result of Task Force Operations theft volume of 08 MMCF has been detected in these cases, 02 FIRs have been lodged and requests for 2 FIRs against gas theft have been lodged in concerned police stations.

He said the operation is being carried out in Peshawar different areas, including suburbs Bazid Khel, Ahmed Khel, Landi Arbab, Tehkal, Jamrud road, G T Road, Bara Road, Abdara, Chamkani, Jhagra, Badhber, Surezai, Palosai, Sufaid Sang, Warsak road, Suburbs of Bannu, Landi Jalandar, Karak.

The Spokesman further said that a special raid conducted in Bazid Khel Kohat road Peshawar against source reports of illegal connections by non-consumers 89 illegal underground connections have been disconnected and request for FIRs against pilferers submitted. He said that owing to complaints of compressor usage received on social media and other source reports, SNGPL Task force Peshawar has disconnected gas supply of 16 domestic consumers in Peshawar, Kohat and Bannu.
