COVID-19 claims 17 more lives; 977 others are infected

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported 17 deaths in the last 24 hours due to novel coronavirus, taking the nationwide tally of fatalities to 6,823, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday.
According to the NCOC, 977 fresh infections emerged during this period, lifting the national tally of cases to 333,970. Around 27,655 samples were tested during the last 24 hours across the country.


There are a total of 12,592 active cases of the coronavirus as 314,555 patients have so far recuperated from the disease.
So far, Sindh has reported 145,851 cases, followed by Punjab reporting 104,271 cases while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 39,564, Balochistan 15,920, Islamabad 19,970, Gilgit Baltistan 4,261 and Azad Jammu and Kashmir 4,133.
A total of 821 patients are under treatment in various hospitals across the country and 97 of them are said to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the novel coronavirus has claimed five more lives and infected 255 people during the past 24 hours in Punjab.
In a statement on the daily Covid-19 situation issued on Sunday, the spokesperson Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab said that five more people succumbed to the deadly virus in 24 hours, taking the death toll to 2,362 in the province.


He maintained that 255 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in the province during the last 24 hours. The province has overall reported 104,271 cases out of which 97,456 have recovered their health.
