OGRA raises LPG price by Rs10 per kg

ISLAMABAD:

After oil prices, consumers are set to face another setback as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has increased prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs10 per kilogram.

The price of domestic LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs122 and commercial cylinder by Rs471 following the hike in LPG prices. Domestic cylinder will now be available at Rs1,863 and commercial cylinder at Rs7,168. Ogra hiked LPG price by Rs8,870 per ton for LPG producer companies. The LPG price in the international market jumped to $574 per ton against $536 previously, causing an increase in domestic prices of LPG.

LPG Industries Association of Pakistan Chairman Irfan Khokhar said that local production stood at 735,460 metric tons whereas the industry imported 473,900 metric tons to meet the country’s requirement during 2020.

Annoyed with high rates of taxes and in order to provide cheap LPG to the masses in winter season, the LPG Industries Association of Pakistan chairman demanded that the government waive the taxes.
