SNGPL takes notice of gas disruption to textile mills

The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd has taken strict notice of alleged involvement of some of its officers in disconnecting gas supply to textile mills and issuing frivolous notices to them on lame excuses and pretexts.

“I assure you people of uninterrupted gas supply to export oriented industry. I will also take action against all delinquent officials resorting to disconnection of gas connections or issuing frivolous notices to the mills without any solid reasons,” SNGPL Managing Director Syed Ali Javaid Hamdani assured a delegation of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) led by Abdul Rahim Nasir here on Tuesday.

Mr Hamdani took action after owners of textile mills told him about intentional delay in the implementation of court orders on the part of some officials posted in regional offices. “Despite court orders the officials are not restoring gas supply to some of our members’ mills. They (the officials0 are also sending us frivolous notices,” said Mr Nasir on the occasion.

After listening to the complaints, the SNGPL managing director ordered his staff to look into the reasons behind the issuance of notices to textile mill-owners despite consuming less than the sanctioned load.

He said the SNGPL would soon develop SOPs to expeditiously settle complaints of the APTMA members. The company would associate the private sector in resolution of their energy related issues.
