WUHU, China: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Provincial Minister for Energy, Planning, and Development Syed Nasir Hussain Shah visited the headquarters of Chery Holdings Group in Wuhu, China, where they were warmly received by Chairman Yin Tongyue.
During the high-level meeting, Chairman Yin reaffirmed Chery’s commitment to the sustainable development of electric vehicles (EVs) and alternative energy projects in Pakistan. Both ministers praised Chery’s green initiatives and reaffirmed Sindh’s dedication to fostering such collaborations to achieve energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
As a result of the visit, *Chery Holdings Group has agreed to establish EV charging stations across Sindh, with plans to install one every 50 kilometers throughout the province. These stations will serve *electric motorcycles, cars, and trucks, supporting the province’s transition to modern, eco-friendly transportation.
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also announced that an assembly plant for electric mini trucks is being set up in Karachi, generating employment opportunities and making EVs more accessible and affordable for the public.
Minister Nasir Hussain Shah highlighted that Chinese investors have pledged full cooperation on solar energy initiatives in rural Sindh. The solarization of homes for low-income families will help reduce electricity bills, combat load shedding, and stimulate the rural economy by creating jobs and improving living standards.
Both ministers emphasized that these developments mark a significant step toward socio-economic upliftment and clean energy adoption across Sindh.
