KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) has formally appointed Shaheryar Chishty as the Chairperson of its Board of Directors, according to a filing submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.
The appointment follows the election of directors at KE’s Extraordinary General Meeting held on April 2, with the board confirming Chishty’s elevation during a meeting on April 15. He had been serving in an interim capacity since March, assuming chairman responsibilities in the absence of Mark Skelton.
Chishty is the founder of AsiaPak Investments, an infrastructure-focused investment firm established in 2011, which has emerged as a key investor in Pakistan’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
Prior to founding AsiaPak, he built an extensive career in international investment banking, spending nearly two decades in Hong Kong. He held senior leadership roles at Citigroup and Nomura. At Citigroup, he served as Head of Asia Industrials and Head of North Asia Mergers & Acquisitions. He later joined Nomura International as Asia Head of Industrials Investment Banking and subsequently became Global Head of the sector.
Over his 18-year banking career, Chishty raised more than $18 billion in debt and equity financing and advised on mergers and acquisitions exceeding $60 billion, reflecting a strong track record in global capital markets and strategic transactions.
