Dr. Zahid Hasan Ansari Stresses Expansion of Pakistan-Canada Bilateral Trade Relations

Karachi: The first meeting of the Pakistan-Canada Business Council of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) was held at Federation House, bringing together Board of Directors and Executive Members to discuss strategies for enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Canada.

The meeting focused on promoting exports and strengthening trade relations across a wide range of sectors, including textiles, leather, food products, fisheries, sports goods, construction materials, surgical instruments, energy, chemicals, and other industries. Participants emphasized the importance of exploring new business opportunities and fostering stronger commercial partnerships between the two countries.

Chairman of the Pakistan-Canada Business Council FPCCI, Dr. Zahid Hasan Ansari, delivered the welcome address and outlined the Council’s vision, scope, and future roadmap. He highlighted the significant potential for increasing trade volumes and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Canada and encouraged members to take proactive initiatives to strengthen business-to-business linkages and facilitate greater market access for Pakistani exporters.

Senior Vice President FPCCI, Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, also addressed the gathering and shared his views on enhancing trade diplomacy and creating new avenues for bilateral economic engagement. Additional Secretary General FPCCI, Ahmed Zaman, provided valuable insights on trade promotion and institutional collaboration.

The Council also announced plans to organize Canada Day celebrations and a business networking event in July. The event is expected to be attended by officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic community, and the High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan, providing a platform for further strengthening commercial and economic ties.

The meeting concluded with remarks by Senior Vice Chairperson Faaiza Mansoor, who reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to advancing Pakistan-Canada trade relations and supporting initiatives aimed at boosting exports and investment.

Among those present were Board of Directors and Executive Members, including Zeeshan Zahid Ansari, Ahsan Mehnaz, Wahab Hussain Khan, Abdul Haseeb Khan, Saad Qadri, Fahad Iqbal, Kafeel Hussain, Khizer Tahneel, Atif Ishtiaq, Fareed Ghani Patka, Anwer Usmani, Tasneem Kauser, Saad Memon, Dr. Zubair Wakeel, Naeem Haroon, and other distinguished members of the business community.
