Crude Oil Spill Spreads Across 20 Kilometers of Gwadar’s Western Coast

Gwadar: A significant crude oil spill has been reported along approximately 20 kilometers of the western coastline of Gwadar, raising serious environmental concerns and posing potential threats to marine life and local fishing activities.

According to reports, large quantities of crude oil have accumulated along the shoreline, affecting coastal ecosystems and creating risks for the region’s fisheries sector, which serves as a vital source of livelihood for local communities.

The Deputy Director of Environment stated that the pollution incident may be linked to ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. He suggested that strong westerly winds could have carried the spilled oil toward the Makran coast, resulting in contamination of the affected coastal areas.

Authorities are monitoring the situation and assessing the environmental impact of the spill, while efforts are expected to be undertaken to determine the source of the pollution and mitigate its effects on the marine environment and coastal communities.
