ISLAMABAD: Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) across Pakistan have begun rolling out a newly redesigned electricity bill format as part of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division)’s ongoing consumer-focused reform initiatives.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy on Wednesday, the revamped bill format has been designed to enhance simplicity, readability, and transparency, enabling consumers to easily understand their electricity consumption, billing details, and payment obligations without dealing with unnecessary complexity.
The ministry stated that the redesign was undertaken in response to long-standing consumer feedback and complaints regarding the previous bill format, which many users found difficult to interpret due to its crowded layout, excessive technical information, repetitive content, and complicated presentation.
“The previous bill format often made it challenging for consumers to quickly identify key billing information. Keeping in view consumer concerns and our commitment to improved service delivery and transparency, the ministry initiated a comprehensive redesign of the electricity bill,” the statement said.
The new bill format features a cleaner and more organized layout, with important information such as payable amounts, due dates, and electricity consumption details displayed prominently. The streamlined design allows consumers to understand their bills at a glance, while reducing visual clutter and making the document more accessible for people from all walks of life.
A key addition to the new format is the integration of QR codes, enabling consumers to conveniently access supplementary information and digital services.
The ministry confirmed that electricity bills issued by Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), and Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) are already being printed in the new format. Bills issued by Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) will transition to the redesigned format from next week.
Meanwhile, the remaining DISCOs are in the process of completing procurement and implementation arrangements and will begin issuing the new bills once the process is finalized.
The initiative is part of broader reforms aimed at improving customer experience, enhancing transparency, and strengthening consumer confidence in Pakistan’s power distribution system.
