New-PPL

KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has officially commenced the execution phase of its Barite, Lead & Zinc (BLZ) Project by signing a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract with Germany-based engineering and consulting firm DMT Germany, marking a major milestone in the development of Pakistan’s mineral resources.

The BLZ Project is a joint venture between PPL, the project operator, and the Government of Balochistan. The agreement was signed on June 23 at PPL’s head office in Karachi.

The contract was signed by PPL Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Khalid Rehman and Head of DMT Germany Florian Beier in the presence of senior officials from both organizations, including Head of PPL Minerals Zeeshan Asghar.

The collaboration with DMT Germany reflects PPL’s commitment to adopting international best practices, ensuring technical excellence and delivering the project through effective execution and world-class project management.

The BLZ Project is one of Pakistan’s largest planned open-pit mining ventures and is expected to play a pivotal role in unlocking the country’s mineral wealth. Once operational, the project is anticipated to significantly boost mineral exports, stimulate economic growth in Balochistan, generate employment opportunities and contribute to the sustainable development of Pakistan’s mining sector.

The project also aligns with the country’s broader strategy of attracting investment in the mineral sector and maximizing the economic potential of its untapped natural resources.
