KARACHI: Pakistan’s total oil sales fell sharply by 10 per cent year-on-year and 5pc month-on-month to 1.418 million tonnes in November, according to data shared by AKD Securities, citing the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC).
Despite the monthly decline, cumulative oil sales in the first five months of FY26 edged up by 1pc, reaching 6.808 million tonnes compared to 6.753m tonnes in the same period last year.
High-speed diesel (HSD) sales remained weak at 683,000 tonnes in November — down 13pc YoY and 4pc MoM — despite the kharif harvest season, post-monsoon recovery, and improved heavy vehicle sales. However, HSD demand still rose 4pc during 5MFY26 to 3.019m tonnes from 2.889m tonnes a year earlier.
Petrol sales also dipped, declining 9pc YoY and 7pc MoM to 608,000 tonnes in November. Yet, in 5MFY26, petrol consumption saw a modest 2pc increase to 3.236m tonnes from 3.185m tonnes, supported by strong two-wheeler and petrol vehicle sales despite high fuel prices.
Furnace oil (FO) demand remained deeply depressed, plunging 32pc YoY and 9pc MoM to just 25,000 tonnes in November. Over the five-month period, FO sales dropped a steep 67pc to 100,000 tonnes compared to 306,000 tonnes last year, reflecting the sector’s continued shift away from FO-based power generation.
