Karachi: A grand Diamond Jubilee ceremony was held at the historic Mohatta Palace to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, celebrating decades of friendship, cooperation and strategic partnership.
The event was hosted by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and attended by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Chinese diplomats, investors, and senior government officials.
Strong Emphasis on Pakistan-China Friendship and CPEC 2.0
Speaking at the ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah highlighted that Pakistan-China friendship remains a timeless symbol of regional peace and economic cooperation. They said the foundation of this relationship was laid by former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and it continues to grow stronger with time.
They further stated that under the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0), new opportunities will be created in industrial development, modern infrastructure, and employment generation, with Sindh and Karachi expected to play a central role.
China Reaffirms Commitment to Cooperation
In a special video message, the Chinese Ambassador described Pakistan-China relations as an “iron brotherhood.” He assured that the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate General in Karachi will continue close cooperation with Sindh institutions and industries to ensure high-quality development projects under CPEC 2.0.
The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of long-term commitment by both sides to further deepen economic, strategic, and cultural ties.
