Pakistan, Bahrain Agree to Deepen Trade, Investment and Energy Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bahrain have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy and human resource development, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressing confidence that the third session of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) would provide fresh momentum to bilateral relations.

The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, who is visiting Islamabad to co-chair the JMC’s third session with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the two sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation across several sectors, alongside regional and international developments. They also emphasised the importance of continued consultation and coordination on matters of mutual interest.

Al Zayani conveyed the greetings of Bahrain’s leadership to Prime Minister Sharif and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Pakistan.

The Bahraini foreign minister also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and mediation efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability, the statement said.

Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding relationship with Bahrain, particularly in trade, investment, energy and human resource development.

He described the bilateral relationship as being rooted in shared values, mutual trust and close people-to-people ties, expressing appreciation for the enduring friendship between the two countries.

The prime minister expressed hope that the third JMC session would broaden the multifaceted partnership and create further opportunities for collaboration across key economic and development sectors.

The meeting underscored the two countries’ shared interest in expanding economic engagement and strengthening bilateral ties through dialogue, investment and sectoral cooperation.
