LAHORE: Global consumer electronics and technology giant Hisense has officially launched its operations in Pakistan through a strategic partnership with Airlink Communication Limited, marking a significant step towards strengthening the country’s manufacturing and technology sectors.
The launch ceremony, held at Expo Centre Lahore, was attended by government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and industry stakeholders.
Addressing the event, Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, said the arrival of Hisense reflects growing international confidence in Pakistan’s industrial potential and underscores the country’s transition from a consumer market to a production and innovation hub.
He described the collaboration between Hisense and Airlink as a model partnership that combines global technological expertise with local manufacturing capabilities. According to him, the initiative will promote technology transfer, workforce development, and employment generation while strengthening Pakistan’s industrial base.
Highlighting Airlink’s advanced manufacturing facility at the Sundar Special Economic Zone, Khan said local production of televisions and air conditioners would help reduce reliance on imports, conserve valuable foreign exchange reserves, and create new opportunities for Pakistan’s skilled workforce.
The SAPM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting industrial growth through progressive reforms and investor-friendly policies. He noted that the National Industrial Policy and National Tariff Policy are designed to enhance competitiveness, attract foreign investment, and provide a stable business environment for manufacturers.
Khan also commended Airlink for its contribution to inclusive economic growth, noting that the company employs more than 2,500 people, including a substantial number of women.
“The launch of Hisense in Pakistan is a strong signal that the country is evolving from an import-dependent economy into a manufacturing-driven market,” he said, adding that Pakistan is increasingly positioning itself as a regional hub for production and industrial development.
