Gross interest income declined by 6.4% year-on-year to PKR 562.6 billion, primarily due to lower average interest rates. The Bank’s operating expenses increased by 8.8% year-on-year to PKR 96.8 billion, reflecting inflationary pressures and continued investment in institutional capabilities. Despite the increase, the growth rate remained below the 9.3% recorded in the same period last year. The cost-to-income ratio stood at 50%.
NBP’s total assets increased by 9.7% to PKR 7.75 trillion from PKR 7.07 trillion at the end of 2025. Net advances grew by 1.7% to PKR 1.36 trillion, while investments at cost reached PKR 5.29 trillion, primarily comprising government securities.

During the period, NBP distributed a dividend of PKR 35 per share for 2025, amounting to PKR 74.5 billion. Following the distribution, the Bank reported net assets of PKR 470.2 billion and total eligible capital of PKR 478.2 billion.

On September 3, 2026, the Federal Government appointed Imran Sarwar as President and Chief Executive Officer of NBP for a three-year term.
Commenting on the Bank’s performance, the President said that NBP’s strength lies in the trust of its customers, the dedication of its employees and the resilience of its balance sheet. He noted that the results reflected prevailing interest-rate conditions while demonstrating the Bank’s continued profitability and strong capital position, even after returning substantial value to shareholders.
NBP continues to support key segments of Pakistan’s economy, including agriculture, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), microfinance and Islamic banking through its Aitemaad network. The Bank is also advancing its digital transformation agenda, integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into its strategy, expanding green banking products and strengthening its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
