Trump Says Iran Not Ready for ‘Right Deal’ as US Maintains Pressure

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said Iran is not yet prepared to reach what he described as the “right deal” with Washington, as tensions between the two countries remain high.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said the United States was continuing to assess developments in the conflict and had not ruled out its available options. “It just means that we’re seeing what happens,” he said when asked whether US military options against Iran were limited.

Trump also claimed that the United States had “total control” of the region around the Strait of Hormuz, including surrounding land areas, underscoring Washington’s focus on the strategically vital waterway.

He said Iran would like to reach an agreement but was not prepared to accept the terms Washington considers necessary.

The comments come as diplomatic efforts remain stalled and tensions continue to weigh on regional energy and shipping markets. Oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have been severely disrupted, adding to concerns over global energy supplies.

Trump’s remarks indicate that Washington intends to maintain pressure on Tehran while assessing the impact of its broader economic and strategic measures, with prospects for a near-term diplomatic breakthrough remaining uncertain.
